Ms. Brixey currently serves as program manager for clinical education, immunizations and travel medicine for Kelsey Seybold Clinic in Houston, Texas. Her responsibilities will include guiding the board’s decisions to ensure the goals of the organization and the needs of members are met, as well as overseeing the business and fiscal management of the association.
Three other board members were also elected to serve on AAACN’s Board of Directors for 2010-2011. Susan M. Paschke, MSN, RN-BC, NEA-BC, Mary Vinson, MS, RN-BC, CMPE, and Suzanne N. Wells, BSN, RN, were elected as AAACN directors and will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operations of AAACN.
Ms. Paschke is the chief clinical and quality officer at the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio. Ms. Vinson is the director of patient care services and associate chief nursing officer at Duke University Health System. Ms. Wells is a manager at St. Louis Children’s Hospital Answer Line.
The new board members will assume their respective positions at the conclusion of AAACN’s 35th Anniversary Conference in Las Vegas, Nev., on May 4-7, 2010.
In addition to the new board members, Debra L. Cox, MS, RN, was elected to serve on AAACN’s Nominating Committee, which oversees the annual elections process and reviews the annual awards and scholarship applications. Ms. Cox is nurse administrator at the Mayo Clinic.
