Presentations are essential parts of a business — whether it’s presenting performance results or convincing a board of a new project, presentations are an important vehicle for transferring one person’s expertise to a group. 1. Focus on the audience with a trustworthy demeanor, including eye contact and sincerity.

2. Be brief, and boil down your message to between three and six key concepts.

3. Familiarize, don’t memorize. Memorization makes presentations stiff and unauthentic.

4. Keep visual aids clear and to the point. One picture and one piece of text support is best.

5. Always use visuals, including charts, maps and diagrams, where applicable.

6. Allow the presentation to be interactive, and accept questions as they arise.
