6 Statistics on Anesthesiologists’ Time With Patients

Nearly half of anesthesiologists spend 25 minutes or more with each patient, according to the Medscape Anesthesiologist Compensation Report 2014.

The data was collected from the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2014. Responses from more than 24,000 physicians in 25 specialties were included in the report.

Here is the amount of time anesthesiologists spend with each patient, according to the report:

•    Less than 9 minutes — 5 percent
•    9 to 12 minutes — 11 percent
•    13 to 16 minutes — 11 percent
•    17 to 20 minutes — 6 percent
•    21 to 24 minutes — 4 percent
•    25 minutes or more — 41 percent
