Dr. Appannagari, along with plastic surgeon Nicholas Retson, MD, and Porter Regional Hospital nurses, performed 58 procedures in one week for underserved children and adults.
The trip was organized by Healing, Health & Hope, a nonprofit led by Dr. Retson that organizes trips to bring surgical expertise to regions prevalent with cleft lips, cleft palates and burn deformities, and where patients cannot otherwise afford these surgeries, according to the report.
