Anesthesiologist Named Dean of University of Florida College of Medicine

Michael L. Good, MD, has been named as the dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Fla., according to a report in the UF College of Medicine Insider.

Dr. Good will begin as dean on Jan. 1, 2010. He was selected from of a pool of over 40 qualified candidates, according to the report.

Dr. Good has served as interim dean since May 2008 and has been instrumental in many UF developments, including enhancing research financing and overseeing the transition of patient care from Shands at AGH to the Shands at UF emergency department, according to the release.

After receiving his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School in 1984, Dr. Good arrived at UF, where he completed a residency in anesthesiology before joining the faculty in 1988.
