According to “2013 Healthcare Benchmarks — Case Management,” released by Healthcare Intelligence Network, the most common way case managers interact with patients is on the telephone.

The report includes responses from 118 healthcare organizations.

Here are the top five ways in which case managers interact with patients, according to the report:

•    Telephone — 83.1 percent
•    Face-to-face in care setting — 61 percent
•    Email — 32.5 percent
•    Home visits — 29.9 percent
•    U.S. mail — 27.3 percent
