RAC Activity Up in 2013

Recovery Audit Contractor inquiries are up for both providers and hospitals, according to AAPC.

The American Hospital Association reported RAC requests grew 13 percent since the beginning of 2013 and complex audit denials increased 28 percent. The dollar value average of a denial was approximately $5,600.

The AHA also said 97 percent of hospitals had some RAC activity.
