Parent Company of Detroit Hospital Pays $830,000 to Settle Claims That It Overbilled Medicare

SCCI Hospitals has paid $830,000 to settle claims that its Detroit facility overbilled Medicare for services, according to a report by WLNS News.

The hospital, which treats critically-ill patients, allegedly billed Medicare for medically unnecessary services from 2004-2005, according to the report.

The case was brought forth by five former SCCI employees who will share 20 percent of the settlement.
