This is later than initially intended because of the partial government shutdown earlier this year. According to a report from ASCA, there is a precedent for delaying the effective date, but the most recent annoucememnt says CMS intends for the rule to be effective on time: Jan. 1, 2014.
Ambulatory surgery centers would see a 0.9 percent increase in reimbursement if the proposed rules are finalized.
