Operation Smile Names Anesthesiologist Dr. Richard Berlin Associate Chief Medical Officer

Sunrise, Fla.-based Sheridan Healthcare’s Richard Berlin, MD, has been appointed associate chief medical officer for Operation Smile, a medical charity helping children with cleft lips, cleft palates, facial tumors and burns.

Dr. Berlin is a pediatric anesthesiologist and past chief of pediatric anesthesia at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Fla. His duties with Operation Smile will include supporting regional medical officers worldwide, assessing the quality of current programs and implementing future quality measures to ensure policies are being carried out.

Operation Smile has treated more than 135,000 children since its inception in 1982. The organization has a presence in more than 50 countries.
