The bill proposes altering how geographic areas are defined for purposes of calculating cost-of-living differentials, therefore increasing reimbursements for physicians in counties with higher costs of living. A similar bill is expected to be introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) in the Senate.
The bill, which would deliver reimbursement increases up to 13.2 percent for 14 counties in the state, is supported by the California Medical Association.
