New York Hospital Fined for Nearly Harvesting Organ of Living Woman

St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y., received a fine for almost harvesting the organs of a woman who, contrary to physicians’ beliefs, was alive, according to a Syracuse Post-Standard report.

The hospital believed a woman who overdosed on drugs suffered a cardiac death in October 2009, according to the report.
