The study suggests that with proper data analysis and improved patient care, more than 30 percent of colorectal surgery patient 30-day readmissions could be prevented.
CMS is expected to increase its reimbursement penalties for 30-day readmissions of Medicare patients to 2 percent in 2014 and 3 percent in 2015.
