Of the respondents, 11 percent said their use of transcription and coding services would increase, but 21 percent planned to decrease or eliminate such services and opt for speech recognition services or an electronic health record implementation.
Outsourcing remains popular, though, because it is less expensive to have transcription services outsourced to offshore contractors than to hire in-house coders, according to the report.
