Novitas Expected to Revise Limits to Anesthesia Coverage

Medicare Part A administrative contractor Novitas Solutions set coverage limitations for injections of an anesthetic agent and other peripheral nerve or branch but is expected to revise the policy soon, according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

According to ASA, the policy did not take into consideration the post-operative pain procedures reported with such services.

Denied claims may be resubmitted for consideration. Affected providers include those in the following states: Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
