Anesthesia for Children Necessary, Beneficial — But Risks Should be Discussed

SmartTots, a collaborative effort between the Anesthesia Research Society and the FDA, released a statement saying anesthesia for children is a necessary measure, the risks of which should be discussed prior to procedures, according to Med Page Today.

The group encouraged healthcare providers to talk to parents about potential risks and benefits of anesthesia and to stay abreast of research connecting anesthesia and neurodevelopment.
