In the article, Dr. Brugge concludes that “confocal endoscopic microscopy holds great promise to aid the endoscopist in the diagnosis of Barrett’s esophagus and the early neoplasia associated with Barrett’s esophagus. With the recent approval of a CPT code for confocal endomicroscopy, we will see increasing use of this new endoscopic imaging technique.”
Dr. Brugge is the director of gastrointestinal endoscopy for the GI unit of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
