According to the report, the hospital underwent an inspection in September. At that time, hospital surveyors determined Exeter Hospital failed to meet standards for governing body, patient’s right, quality assessment and performance improvement and infection control. All four categories fall under CMS’ conditions for participation.

CMS sent a letter outlining these deficiencies and set a deadline of Dec. 28 for the hospital to submit a corrective action plan and demonstrate renewed compliance to all standards. The news exacerbates things for Exeter Hospital, which is already under investigation regarding a hepatitis C breakout caused by a former employee.
