Health Net to Sell Northeast Operations to UnitedHealth

Health Net has announced that it plans to sell its health insurance operations in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey to UnitedHealth Group for $510 million, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

UnitedHealth will gain 578,000 members as part of the agreement.

Health Net said in the report that it plans to concentrate its efforts on the Western United States.

The deal is expected to be completed within 12 months.
