Jackson Health System to Consider Outsourcing Billing, Collections

Miami, Fla.-based Jackson Health System executives are exploring outsourcing both billing and collections services and emergency room physicians, according to the Miami Herald.

No decisions have been made, but Chief Executive Carlos Migoya said the health system is taking steps to explore such options.

Despite recent progress, Jackson’s central office, which manages billing and collections, has been a challenge for the company, Migoya said.

ER outsourcing would include physicians, physician assistants and advanced nurse practitioners. ER nurses would continue to be Jackson employees.
