Phoebe Sumter’s campus includes a 76-bed hospital, a surgery center, a women’s and family health center and a wellness and education center. All four buildings received the same high environmental certification after the campus was rebuilt from a 2007 tornado.
To receive the certification, the buildings include environmentally-friendly design features such as an irrigation system to use rainwater, energy efficient lighting and heating, a waste management program and a 26,000-square-foot green room to improve thermal performance.
