To make the hospital more competitive, CEO Reginald Coopwood, MD, and his staff are looking to add an ambulatory surgery center, an orthopedic unit, private rooms and $20 million in new technology.
Officials will submit their plans to the Tennessee Health Services Development Agency by September, with approval coming as soon as December.
Many cite Dr. Coopwood, who joined the Regional Medical Center in 2010 as the third CEO in five years, for stabilizing the hospital’s finances and building a new vision for the complex.
