The hospital sector had 11 mass layoffs in May, up from the five reported in April but steady from the 12 that occurred last May.
Last month’s mass layoffs at hospitals affected 765 people. Despite May bringing nearly twice as many mass layoffs as the month prior, the total number of mass layoffs for 2012 still sits lower than 2011. There have been 43 mass layoffs so far this year, whereas 54 mass layoffs were recorded in January through May 2011.
