In the recently released “2012 Staff Salary Survey” from consulting firm UBM Medica US, the firm reports that nurses and nurse managers saw average salary increases of 4 percent and 12 percent over the previous year.
Bob Keaveney, editorial director for Physicians Practice, said the overall nursing shortage is putting upward pressure on nursing salaries. He said salaries may also be affected by the large number of work-setting options for nurses, including private practices, hospitals, insurance companies and other healthcare companies.
The data also suggested that private practice-based nursing salaries are slightly below the average for nurses.
