To identify gastroenterologists who would provide the procedure, AGA partnered CDC and its Colorectal Cancer Control Program. Preliminary information indicates more than 50 AGA members screened almost 300 uninsured patients across the country.
The majority of the screenings occurred the last few days of March, with gastroenterologists performing free colonoscopies in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Nevada.
The program was spearheaded by AGA member Carla Ginsburg, MD, MPH, AGAF.
