ASC Leader to Know: Dawn Q. McLane of Health Inventures

Dawn Q. McLane, RN, MSA, CASC, CNOR, is the regional vice president of operations for Health Inventures, which has brokered and managed physician and hospital joint ventures in ASCs and surgical hospitals for more than 15 years. Ms. McLane has worked in the ASC industry since 1995 and first joined Health Inventures in 2010. In her current role, Ms. McLane oversees pre-operations and operational accountability for joint venture ASCs at multiple surgery center sites.

Dawn Q. McLane joined Health Inventures in 2010.Prior to joining Health Inventures, Ms. McLane served in executive roles at Nikitis Resource Group and Aspen Healthcare and National Surgical Care. She has also served within the ASC space in both management and clinical roles. Ms. McLane is a member of the ASC Association and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. She has also been a surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care since 2001.

Speaking on hospital-physician ASC joint ventures at Becker’s ASC Review’s 18th Annual Ambulatory Surgery Centers Conference last year, Ms. McLane said in order to preserve the peace in a joint venture, hospital leaders and physicians must focus on expectations and communication. This starts with defining a mission, vision and values. “If you don’t have one, you can’t define which direction you want to go,” she said.
