Former Medtronic CEO to Lead Minnesota Med-Tech Research Center

A new public-private partnership seeking to improve the development, testing and approval process for medical devices will be chaired by former Medtronic CEO Bill Hawkins, according to a StarTribune report.

The new regulatory sciences center will begin by creating computer models of human body parts that the medical device industry can use in its testing and development of new devices.

Center partners include Minnesota’s medical technology community, the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health and the University of Minnesota.
