Mr. Cochran was recently named the 2011 National Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. He started the company after serving as a consultant for ambulatory surgery centers and seeing the way surgery could be performed in a more efficient, accessible setting.
“My concept in those early days was, ‘Why not take the ambulatory surgery center concept closer to the physicians and the patients?’” he said. “Thus the concept of a mobile hospital.”
Mr. Cochran has since built a $20 million company based on the idea of mobile surgery.
