Report: Capsule Endoscopy Market Has Grown 12.9% Annually Since 2007

An increase in acceptance and sales will continue to drive the capsule endoscopy market that has grown 12.9 percent annually since 2007, according to a Kalorama news release.

Given Imaging first introduced the PillCam in 2001, and the company is now working on the second generation of capsule endoscopes. Olympus introduces its Endo Capsule for visualizing small bowel mucosa in 2007. Olympus’ capsule has automatic lighting from six LEDs, transmission of two images per second and recording time of approximately eight hours.
