Rep. Paulsen told Minnesota Public Radio that GOP leaders have decided to proceed with the bill, called the Protect Medical Innovation Act. This bill currently has 226 cosponsors from both parties in the House — enough for passage. The medical device tax would levy a 2.3 percent charge on medical device companies, and experts say it will cut jobs and hurt the industry.
