For the study, researchers looked at demographic data of 15 morbidly obese adolescents who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass from 2004-2009. Data was collected before surgery, one year after surgery and two years after surgery. Researchers found adolescents experienced significant weight loss and improved or resolved obesity-related diseases. High blood pressure was resolved in four out of five patients who were being treated for the condition prior to surgery.
