An article in the Apr. 1 edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association, written by past and present leaders of medical societies, lays out a series of 10 recommendations for PMAs to reduce their industry contributions to $0. The recommendations include establishing "conflict-free" leadership, not allowing "industry" officials to influence speakers at conferences and eliminating product endorsements, according to the release.
These recommendations come slightly more than three years after JAMA published a similar call to action related to industry conflict of interest for academic medical centers, according to the release.
