Ms. Graham began her surgery center career in 1976 as a registered nurse at the first surgery center in Wichita, Surgicare. She started there as a PRN and quickly moved into the role of administrator. While at Surgicare, Ms. Graham was named by HCA — the majority owner of Surgicare — as the company’s “operating room director of the year.”

In 2000, she left Surgicare to help a group of physicians start Cypress Surgery Center. She helped build the center from the ground up, fill the operating rooms with surgical cases and then expand to a multi-specialty center with six operating rooms and two endoscopy suites.

More than 10,900 procedures were performed at Cypress in 2010, and in 2011, Ms. Graham expects the number to increase to more than 11,400, according to the report.
