New Pillow May Help Reduce Hospital-Acquired Infections

A new pillow has been invented that may help reduce the risk of patients acquiring hospital-acquired infections through the use of technology found in heart stents, according to an Irish Times report.

The pillow, developed by Irish company Gabriel Scientific, uses a filter made from a membrane normally found in heart stents that helps keep germs out of the stuffing of the pillow.

A clinical study of the pillow — called the SleepAngel — showed it to be more hygienic than regular pillows.
