Time pressure at shift changes, increasing numbers of patients to discuss and cultural and language differences mean discussions about patients are more important than ever, said project leader Diana Slade.
A new three-year project led by academics and state government health departments aims to introduce guidelines for how staff members talk about patients at the changeover of each hospital shift, according to the report.
