Gloria Shavers, who was admitted to the hospital for seizures, died after falling through her hospital room window in September. Hospital records indicated Ms. Shavers did not have the one-on-one monitoring ordered by her physician due to lack of staffing.

In addition to lack of staffing, federal inspectors also cited the hospital for not keeping 21 hospital room windows locked. The hospital has since implemented corrective actions. Federal inspectors will conduct another unannounced survey of the hospital. Failure to remedy the citations may endanger the hospital’s Medicare status.
