Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary to Study MRSA in 5-Year $11M Study

The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston has received an $11 million grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease to coordinate a Harvard-wide project on antibiotic resistance, according to a hospital release.

The goal of the project is to develop five to ten promising and tested new compounds for fighting multidrug-resistant infection caused by staph and related microbes, including vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus. The five-year project will be led by Michael Gilmore, PhD.
