Beginning Sept. 6, employees and volunteers will be responsible for making sure they receive either the flu shot or flu mist by Oct. 31. Any employee or volunteer who is not vaccinated by Oct. 31 without a “documented and legitimate reason” will be terminated. While the flu vaccine was always encouraged for employees and volunteers, this is the first year that it will be mandatory.

The hospital implemented the new policy in order to protect pediatric patients and employees/volunteers from becoming infected.
