The University of Rochester is seeking final site plan approval for a 172,000-square-foot outpatient clinic at the former Marketplace Mall in Henrietta, N.Y., the Rochester Business Journal reported Oct. 16.

The proposal was on the Town of Henrietta Planning Board’s Oct. 15 agenda. The university would tear down the mall structure in that section and build the new clinic on about the same footprint.

The building would have two main uses. One is space for pediatric and adult medical specialists who provide diagnosis, treatment and complementary care. The other is space for the Golisano Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Institute and related programs.

The clinic would connect to the existing Saunders Center for Orthopaedics and Physical Performance to the south. It would also share a demising wall with the planned Mary Cariola Center to the east, which puts the Golisano institute space next to that facility.

The project adds to the University of Rochester Medical Center’s redevelopment of the Marketplace Mall property. The medical center already turned the mall’s former Sears store into the Saunders Center orthopedic campus.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
