The Mindful CRNA, a Chicago-based coaching and education platform, will open its CRNA Bootcamp on Oct. 21. The program helps registered nurses preparing for nurse anesthesia school, along with current nurse anesthesia residents, handle the pressure of training.
Amanda Kay, MSN, CRNA, founded the platform, according to an Oct. 13 news release. She has practiced as a certified registered nurse anesthetist since 2017, has coached since 2020 and has mentored more than 700 aspiring nurse anesthetists.
The bootcamp centers on three themes: capacity, identity and emotional regulation. Participants attend three live one-hour calls held every other week. Recordings are available for anyone who can’t attend live.
Each call opens with a warm-up, moves into live teaching and coaching, and ends with a cool-down. Participants learn to recognize how they default under pressure and to tell fear-driven behavior apart from purposeful action.
Enrollees also get pre-work, an introductory video and short written exercises through a private online portal. Each exercise takes 15 minutes or less. The first asks participants to take stock of the strengths they already have.
Ms. Kay is moving the platform’s focus toward purpose, legacy and leadership. She plans to make an announcement about mindful leadership in nurse anesthesia when the bootcamp ends. Separately, The Mindful CRNA sells an interview prep bundle for $100 year-round.
The Mindful CRNA has no affiliation with any nurse anesthesia program or credentialing body. It is launching as programs nationwide work to grow the CRNA pipeline.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
