MultiCare Health System will close three Rockwood eye clinics in Spokane County, Wash., by Dec. 31, affecting 56 employees, including physicians and optometrists, the Spokane Journal reported Sept. 4.

The clinics slated to close are Rockwood Eye & Optical Center-Downtown in Spokane, Rockwood Eye Center-Valley in Spokane Valley and Rockwood Eye Center-Northpointe in North Spokane, Kevin Maloney, MultiCare’s media relations manager for the Inland Northwest region, told the publication.

MultiCare has not provided a reason for the closures. The health system is reaching out directly to affected patients and helping affected employees find other openings within the organization, according to the report.

“Decisions that affect patients and employees are never made lightly,” Mr. Maloney said. “MultiCare remains committed to delivering high-quality care and supporting the communities we serve during this transition.”

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
