The Estimator will allow patients and healthcare professionals to estimate the total cost of medical care based upon the patient’s CIGNA health plan. Patients will be able to know the cost prior to the delivery of services and will be able to discuss their options with their healthcare provider. According to the news release, a trial of the program showed that the Estimator improved the likelihood of patients to pay their bills.
Healthcare providers will be able to access the Estimator using existing technology, eliminating any need to invest in new software.
