Interventional radiology and neurosurgery posted the largest physician pay increases of any specialty over the last year, according to Doximity’s 2026 Physician Compensation Report.
Doximity, a digital platform for U.S. medical professionals, released the report Aug. 25. It draws on salary data from more than 23,000 physicians collected in 2025, along with a survey conducted in June on how AI is changing physician careers and pay, according to a company news release.
The 10 specialties with the largest increase in average annual compensation:
- Interventional radiology: 10.8% growth, $634,658 average
- Neurosurgery: 10.7% growth, $829,161 average
- Pathology: 9.8% growth, $410,039 average
- Allergy & immunology: 8.8% growth, $335,978 average
- Thoracic surgery: 8.7% growth, $749,707 average
- Ob/Gyn: 8% growth, $420,859 average
- Medicine/pediatrics: 7.9% growth, $319,995 average
- Child neurology: 6.9% growth, $309,593 average
- Radiology: 6.6% growth, $609,684 average
- Endocrinology: 6.6% growth, $309,782 average
