Peoria, Ill.-based Methodist College is establishing a certified registered nurse anesthetist program to help address staffing shortages.
The Gilmore Foundation is investing nearly $850,000 through Carle Health Center for Philanthropy to help the college launch the program in 2028, according to an Aug. 26 news release from Methodist College.
The school will use the funding to develop curriculum, recruit faculty, complete accreditation activities and add advanced simulation resources.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Gilmore Foundation for its visionary investment in the future of healthcare,” Kayla Banks, PhD, RN, chancellor of Methodist College, said in the release. “With this investment, nurses will have the opportunity to pursue advanced education close to home, and more patients will benefit from access to exceptional care delivered by highly trained professionals.”
