A Kansas chiropractor has pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud for submitting insurance claims to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City for chiropractic services that were never provided to patients, the Justice Department said in an Aug. 27 news release.
Kenya Laser, of Overland Park, Kan., carried out the scheme from approximately March 2022 through March 2025, billing Blue KC for services on dates when patients had not visited her clinic.
She also used the information of an individual who had never received treatment at her practice to submit fraudulent claims between October 2024 and March 2025. Ms. Laser faces up to 10 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
