Distalmotion, a medtech company, received FDA 510(k) clearance for ventral hernia repair with its Dexter Robotic Surgery System, expanding the number of procedures for which the system can be used in ASCs.
The clearance allows Dexter to be used in the top four highest volume soft tissue ambulatory procedures in the U.S.: cholecystectomy, hysterectomy, inguinal hernia repair and ventral hernia repair, according to an Aug. 13 news release from Distalmotion. Those procedures have a combined total annual volume of more than 3 million.
More than 4,000 patients have been treated with Dexter, the release said.
