The University of Alabama in Huntsville is planning to create a CRNA program, which would be the fourth in the state.
The university’s College of Nursing new dean, Hyochol Brian Ahn, PhD, MSN, said that the college is collaborating with Huntsville (Ala.) Hospital to develop its inaugural CRNA program, according to an Aug. 5 news release from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Dr. Ahn began his appointment as the College of Nursing dean in July.
“CRNAs are essential for any surgeries,” Dr. Ahn said in the release. “Even dental surgery needs a CRNA. Our CRNA will be one of a very few schools in Alabama as well as in the United States. There are only about 100 CRNA programs in the United States, with just three located in Alabama. We are working with Huntsville Hospital to develop our inaugural CRNA program.”
