Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center has purchased 34 acres of land in Lakeland, Fla., for $12 million to build an ASC and outpatient center, according to an Aug. 6 report from Lakeland Gazette.
Phase 1 of the outpatient center will include cancer screenings, diagnostic imaging, blood draw and clinical labs, radiation therapy, infusion services, medical oncology clinics and access to clinical trials.
The second phase will add an ASC along with a wellness, research and educational facility.
Construction is expected to start in 2027, the report said.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
