Austin, Texas-based Ouma Health has acquired a multisite maternal-fetal medicine practice led by Tamara Takoudes, MD, expanding the telemedicine company’s footprint across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire, according to an Aug. 4 news release.
The acquisition adds established in-person clinical locations to Ouma’s national teleMFM network and strengthens the company’s relationships with hospitals, imaging centers, birth centers and community obstetric practices across New England.
Ouma, which describes itself as the nation’s largest independent maternity telemedicine company, said the deal is part of a broader effort to build clinical infrastructure for high-risk pregnancy care as MFM workforce shortages and hospital labor and delivery unit closures continue to limit access in many communities. Financial terms were not disclosed.
