Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare has opened a new ASC in Gaylord, Mich., after receiving accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care as well as Medicare certification.

The Gaylord Surgery Center provides outpatient surgical procedures including gastrointestinal, ophthalmology, orthopedic and general surgery, according to a July 21 news release from Munson Healthcare.

The health system invested more than $15 million in the new ASC.

Patients will receive personalized care, have shorter stays, experience faster recovery times and be able to return home the same day after surgery, the release said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
